Inspired by the legacy of my grandmother and Scandinavian folk art, this new body of work explores the vibrant tradition of rosemaling through my medium of ceramics. We have several platters, boards, and spoons that my grandmother painted, all adorned with intricate flowers and vibrant patterns in the Norwegian style. Recently, we discovered a hidden trove of her sketches and completed pieces—an intimate archive that reignited my own creative journey. With each piece, I sought to honor her and the folk art tradition. Drawing from the fluidity of rosemaling, I’ve hand-illustrated each platter and charger with motifs of bright blooms, bold patterns, and delicate flourishes, all enhanced with the luminous glow of 22k gold lustre—a detail I can’t resist!
